2019 Spring StoryWalk:
Gus is a Tree
by Claire Babin and Illistrated by Olicier Tallec
The new StoryWalk® book at the Thielke Arboretum is Gus Is A Tree, written by Claire Babin and illustrated by Olivier Tallec. In Gus Is A Tree, a dreamy little boy dozes off under a tree and begins to dream that he is a tree. As a tree, Gus explores the forest with a sense of wonder. He observes the sky and feels the squirrels on his trunk. He thinks about bark, moss, leaves, and roots. He also sees with surprise how the forest comes alive at night with owls, bats and other creatures.
The Planning Team would like to thank Sally Morgan, co-owner of The Curious Reader, an independent bookstore located on Rock Road, Glen Rock as well as Paul Duggan owner of Mail & More on Rock Road. Each of these local business owners supports the StoryWalk® literacy endeavor through the contribution of a book and laminating materials. This StoryWalk® will be up throughout the spring. Enjoy the outdoor reading experience over and over. The StoryWalk® is free, but donations are always appreciated. And, support our generous business owners as they have supported StoryWalk®. Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT originally created the StoryWalk® concept. It is currently available in 48 states and 4 countries.
