Nature Explorers After School Program

​Come and explore the many natural adventures that await at the Thielke Arboretum this Fall in this fun interactive after school program. Join our Education Docents for a hands-on look at the world around us. Adapted from our popular School Programs, students will explore all facets of nature including Habitats, Pollinators Partners, The Power of Trees, and a Sensory Adventure.
 
Open to all area students in Kindergarten thru 5th grade. 
Students in K-2 and 3rd thru 5th will meet on alternate Wednesdays afternoons from 4-5:30. Sign up for as many sessions as you want. 
Space is limited to 10 students. 
Preregistration is a must. 
All session will be outside weather permitting. Inclement weather cancels. 
Masks are mandatory, social distancing wherever possible.
Covid-19 waiver signature mandatory for each date.

October 7, 2020       K-2nd grade            Pollinator Partners
Description: Through hands-on investigation learn about the parts of a flower.  Walk through the Arboretum and discover how plants, insects and animals work together to survive.

October 14, 2020        K-2nd grade            Habitats
Description: ​Identify and investigate the components of a habitat: water, food, shelter and space. Identify smaller habitats (pond, pine forest, vernal pool & log) within the large Thielke Arboretum wetland habitat. Find out who lives there and why.

October 21, 2020       K-2nd grade            Tree Power!
Description: Be a tree detective and use bark, twigs, buds, needles/leaves and shapes to help identify trees.  Participate in hands-on-activities and walk through the Theilke Arboretum and observe seasonal changes.
