Come join our local Watershed Ambassador and search for bugs in the Diamond Brook. Macro-invertebrates, or aquatic bugs, are important species that tell us about our water quality. This program will include searching for macro-invertebrates in the brook. Children will then learn to identify and discuss what was found. This will be an eye-opening look into our brook ecosystem.
The program will be conducted by Julia Bresnan our local Watershed Ambassador for Watershed Management Area 4, the lower Passaic and Saddle Rivers. The Watershed Ambassador program is an AmeriCorps service opportunity sponsored by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. Julia works to engage the local community on important issues concerning our watershed. This is done through educational presentations, community outreach projects and stream monitoring.
This is a hands-on supervised outdoor workshop, rain or shine. Wear boots, bring drinking water, and don't forget sunscreen and a hat.
Each program will be limited to twelve participants.
Early registration is recommendedCost is $10 for members, and $15 for non-members.
